Clean and safe: how we look after LariDea every day

Before you let your child run into a playground, you want to know 2 things: the place is clean, and someone will notice if something goes wrong. At LariDea, both come down to routines we follow everyday.

Our standard comes from home. The rules here are the rules we use with our own daughters, Ilaria and Amedea. They start at the front desk.

Check-in: 3 matching stickers

Every visit starts at reception. We register your child's name and age, plus your name and phone number, so we can reach you quickly if we need to.

Then we print 3 stickers showing your child's entry time and exit time:

  • One goes on your child's clothes, where our team can see it.
  • One stays with you.
  • One goes into our entry log at the counter.

The log tells our team how many children are inside and when each child's time ends. At check-out, your sticker has to match your child's. The exits are gated and monitored, so a child can only leave with the adult holding the matching sticker.

The exit time on the stickers helps you too: you can see at a glance when your play time ends. If you book a nanny and step out, your sticker is how you collect your child when you come back. Keep it safe until you leave.

Ages kept apart

Toddlers need low heights and soft edges. Older children need height, bounce and room to run. So they play on different floors:

  • Ground floor, Rainbow Pony:   ages 1 to 3
  • Upper floor, Astro Pony: ages 4 to 10

A 1-year-old and a 7-year-old don't share a play structure here. Our team holds that split all day, busy weekends included. Children pick it up fast, because each floor has its own pony. Our Rainbow Pony and Astro Pony story explains how the 2 floors work.

Supervision on both floors

Play supervisors work on both floors for the whole opening day. They know the zones and the rules, and they know which child came with which adult. Everyone on the floor speaks Thai and English.

You're part of this too. Our house rules ask every parent or guardian to stay with their child and keep them in sight, unless a nanny is looking after them. Parents can join their children on almost all the equipment. The spiral slide is the one exception: it's for children only, for safety. We also have CCTV cameras in the play areas. If there's an incident, we review the footage so we can see what took place.

If you see something that worries you, tell the nearest team member straight away.

If a child gets hurt

Climbing and jumping come with the occasional bump. Here's how we prepare, and what we do when it happens:

  • Nobody starts their first shift before training on check-in, check-out and our incident procedure.
  • Our nannies are trained in first aid, AED and CPR.
  • First-aid kits are stocked on site.
  • Every incident is written up.
  • In a medical emergency, we call emergency services and contact you straight away.
  • Evacuation routes are posted where you can see them.

If your child has a medical condition or an allergy we should know about, tell us at check-in.

How we clean

Small children touch everything, and then their hands go into their mouths. So cleaning runs all day, on a schedule:

  • Every hour:   our team wipes the high-touch surfaces.
  • Through the day:   toys rotate through sanitation, so some are being cleaned while others are in play. We sanitize toys and play equipment with UVC light.
  • Every day, before opening and after closing:   a full deep clean.

High-touch surfaces are the spots that many hands reach in an hour, so they get cleaned most often.

For cleaning, we use Dettol and Clean Care.

The day has a set rhythm: a safety check before the doors open, a wipe-down in the late morning, a sanitation round around lunch and a refresh in the mid-afternoon. Our cleaning team works through the day on the posted schedule.

Today's cleaning checklist is on the wall. Ask any of our team, and they'll show you what has been signed off sofar.

Busy days and parties

Weekends and birthday parties bring more children, and the routines stay the same. Parties happen on the birthday stage upstairs, away from the toddler floor, and the age split holds allday.

Shoes off, socks on

Shoes stay at the entrance, so the floors your child crawls on stay free of street dirt. Everyone wears socks on both floors, adults included. If you forget yours, LariDea grip socks are sold at reception, and you can reuse them on your next visit. Grip socks also help small feet hold on to steps and climbing walls.

Food, drinks and sick days

  • Food and drinks from the café stay in the café, away from the play floors.
  • Outside food isn't allowed in the café or the play areas, except formula, baby food or anything your child needs for a medical reason.
  • If your child has a food allergy, tell our team when you order. Cross-contamination can happen in ourkitchen.
  • If your child is unwell, please let them rest at home. We may ask a child who seems ill to come back another day.

What you can ask us

On your first visit, ask any of our team to walk you through the safety rules. Ask to see today's cleaning checklist, too.

We're on site most days ourselves. If something isn't right, tell us at reception, and we'll fix it while you're still here.

Come and see it

The best way to judge our routines is to watch them on an ordinary day. We're open every day from 11:00 to 20:00, public holidays included, at the Again Project next to Terminal 21 Pattaya.
